Isiolo South MP Mohamed Tubi Bidu Passes Away

Isiolo South Member of Parliament (MP) Mohamed Tubi Bidu has died in Nairobi while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi hospital.

National assembly speaker, Moses Wetang'ula, announced the sad news on Wednesday, November 12, and confirmed that the first-term legislator died in the evening after a spell of illness.

It is with deep regret that I communicate to you and the country the death of our respected colleague, the Member of Parliament of the Isiolo South Constituency, the Hon. Tubi Bidu Mohamed, who died this evening when seeking treatment at the Nairobi Hospital, Wetang'ula wrote to Members of Parliament.

The Speaker honored the late politician and said that he was an effective and hardworking leader who served his people and the nation with honor. According to him, Hon. Tubi was devoted to serving parliament since he served in the various committees and represented his constituency and the entire country in matters related to his constituency and the country as a whole.

Wetangiua said Tubi Bidu was a Member of the Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining, and the Public Petitions Committee until his demise. This was his first term in the National Assembly.

Earlier on, he served as the first Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly and served diligently until 2017.

Wetang'ula challenged other parliamentarians to remember Tubi by looking into his legacy of integrity, humility, and service to the people.

The death of the late MP has also attracted a number of condolence messages by the leaders in the country, with the Governor of Isiolo, Abdi Guyo, taking charge.

Governor Guyo was very distressed about the loss, and he said that Tubi was a great leader, principled and full of courage who influenced both the governance of the county and his country with a vision and integrity.

It is with great sorrow that we inform you that this evening, at the Nairobi Hospital, Hon. Mohamed Tubi Bidu, Member of Parliament of Isiolo South, passed away. Hon. Tubi had a noble past of serving the community in Isiolo County Assembly as the first Speaker of the Assembly, where he had set a new foundation of our devolved system of governance, Governor Guyo said in a statement.

He complimented the uncompromising commitment of Tubi to enhance peace, unity and development in Isiolo County and that his leadership was characterized by integrity, boldness, and a strong sense of duty to the people he represented.

The governor sent his condolences to the family, friends, and people of the late MP in Isiolo South, terming his death as not only a loss to his constituency but also to the country.

His death is a great loss not just to Isiolo South but to the whole of Isiolo community and the country in general. It is my touching offering of condolence to his family, friends, and the people of Isiolo South in this trying moment. May the Almighty Allah turn him to the Jannatul Firdaus and put comfort in his loved ones, he ended.

The death of Hon. Mohamed Tubi Bidu is the death of a respected leader who devoted his life to serving the people and empowering the communities. His career as a leader, having been the first Speaker of the Isiola County Assembly, and the Parliamentary Representative of the Isiola South, is indicative of a lifetime devotion to governance, unity and development.
