The Ministry of Education has addressed claims circulating on social media that the 2025 KCSE results have been released

The Ministry of Education has refuted reports that have gone viral that the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results have been released.

The government termed the information as fake and misleading and advised the citizens to use the official communication channel only to get updated information about the national examinations.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba in a statement made on Saturday, January 3, categorically denied that the results were in and Kapsabet High School had been recognized as the best performing school in the country.

The reports being circulated on social media were all fake and aimed at deceiving the masses, as the Cabinet Secretary said.

The CS warned the parents, candidates, and the general citizenry against sharing or pursuing information that has not been confirmed and added that the Ministry has a stringent and open procedure that follows prior to publication of KCSE results.

He encouraged Kenyans to take such assertions with the same degree of contempt and await an official report by the Ministry of Education after the results are obtained.

The explanation is timely when every candidate and parent is usually filled with anxiety, particularly after the end of the national exams. The Ministry has, over the years, given numerous warnings against misinformation, stating that misinformation usually results in unnecessary panic and may leave learners and their families in a state of confusion.

In the meantime, the Ministry of Education has also given updates on the current Grade 10 Senior School placement using the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

Cabinet Secretary Ogamba issued another statement on Friday, January 2, stating that the initial updates to the placement had been completed successfully. As the Ministry states, the first revision exercise was completed on December 29, 2025. Students who were awarded a placement in this stage were able to view their joining instructions on the official placement portal.

Since December 30, 2025, the instructions have been posted online through the placement site of the Ministry.

The CS indicated that the placement process is to be open and listen to the needs of learners and their families.

In this regard, the Ministry has introduced a second window within which such students who feel displeased with their current placements can seek a review. He said that the second placement review period will take place between January 6 and January 9, 2026.

In the process, learners and parents will be given the liberty to request a reconsideration of their placement formally so long as they can provide valid and verifiable reasons. The Cabinet Secretary stressed that the second review phase is not to cause havoc to the system but to resolve the real issues that might not have been solved in the initial review.

There can be special situations that may occur with learners or in the accessibility and suitability of the school.

He also indicated that the review mechanism has been well organized to protect the right of each learner to education, and also to maximize the utilization of the available school resources in the country.

The Ministry strives to maintain fairness, efficiency, and accountability during the placement process.

To ensure that it is an orderly and transparent process, the CS explained that every application to place reviews should be processed according to laid-down procedures.

Institutional heads must make the requests via the official placement portal.

He said this is guaranteed to be consistent, well-documented, and accountable in decision-making.

The Ministry ended up by reiterating its belief that it will take credible information, increase access to education, and tackle the issue of placements within the official channels.

Parents and learners were advised to keep abreast of the news via the announcements in the Ministry and not to trust the report without verifying it in social media.
