KCB Rugby Deliver Statement Win Over Black Bad in Kenya Cup Encounter

KCB Rugby maintained their great streak in the Kenya Cup with a whopping 45-3 win over the Kenyatta University Blak Blad on a Match day Six contest that was played in the Kenyatta University Grounds on Saturday.

The bankers delivered an all-round performance that was dominating and defensive discipline and mercilessly attacking execution to emphasize their qualifications as true title contenders this season.

The hosts were also intent early on and even temporarily destabilized the visitors though the final scoreline was lopsided.

The first goal was scored by Blak Blad, who won a penalty in the early stages of the match and, without a second thought, placed it over the goal line to score a 3-0 goal and to fire up the homeland crowd.

Nevertheless, this point of promise did not last long as KCB soon took control and never looked back.

The turning point was when KCB reacted with power, using strong forward play. Michael Wekesa overpowered the try line to score the first try of the visitors, and it was all over KCB gaining momentum. Since then, the bankers were confident, and they dominated the possession and dictated the pace of the match.

Acute wit in the set-piece soon proved to bring additional spoils. In a scrum, scrum-half Samuel Asati responded fast to the ground and put winger Festus Shiasi in free space. Shiasi demonstrated blistering speed to complete clinically in the corner, which stretched the advantage of KCB.

Fly-half Brian Wahinya was also dependable at the tee, and he converted and added points, and gradually increased the margin.

The territory under KCB remained in a pressure to Black Blade defence, which was not able to withstand wave after wave of attack. Nick Okullo and Fidel Maina made the whitewash by a very short margin, both taking advantage of lapses in defense and the visitors took advantage of every letdown with accuracy.

The integration of the back line at KCB was very clear, and there was smooth passing and smart running, which created space in the field. Another attempt was made after a well planned attacking move by Levy Amunga and Andy Cole scored the sixth try of the first half in a blistering performance by KCB.

By mid-time the bankers were already stamping a 40-3 lead, which was in effect putting the fight at rest and silencing the crowd of home fans. KCB was more moderate in the second half but still remained in solid control of the proceedings.

The visitors kept Blak Blad alive in their half and deprived them of any actual scoring chance even when Amunga spent some time in the sin bin and they demonstrated composure and discipline.

The climax of the later stages was when Sheldon Kahi made his debut to KCB Rugby in a very memorable way. Kahi, who had been brought on to the field, demonstrated a feeling of confidence and knowledge and made it across the try line to score the final points of the afternoon, securing the final result of the afternoon with a resounding 45-3 victory by KFC.

In the post-match speech, Kahi said that his debut was a memorable experience and that the atmosphere in the team allowed him to easily fit in. To play the first game with KCB Rugby is a tremendous privilege and even better when I score.

The boys actually supported me, and the systems helped me to easily settle down. It is a squad with great expectations, and I am glad to be on the ride, he said.

The outcome also strengthens the emerging unity, richness, and aggressiveness of KCB Rugby in the Kenya Cup season as it picks up. Having a surge of victory under their belt, they now move on to their next match; the bankers will be going back home to face Nondescript son January 31, 2026, and with the winning streak, they will continue their drive to the top of the table.
