Tucker Still in the Title Hunt; Charles Okere

Charles Okere, the head coach of Tusker FC, is still insistent that his team has not yet lost the Kenyan Premier League championship even in their current league standing.

The Brewers are in 7th position with 27 points, nine points behind the joint leaders, Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, yet, according to Okay, the league is closely competitive enough to give the league a late shot.

The title in the 2021 /22 season was the last time Tucker tasted league glory since they also beat AFC Leopards to win the title and establish themselves as one of the most successful clubs in the country.

The victory made them the second most adorned club in the recorded history of Kenyan football, and the record champions Gor Mahia, with 21 league titles.

Although this season has come with its challenges, Okere insists that the aspirations of the club will be the same. With the league entering the second half of the campaign, Okere has urged his players to continue being at their fullest concentration and discipline, stating that even small slip-ups would destroy their title ambitions.

As per the coach, the tight standings imply that results can significantly change the position of a team within a span of a week. Very tight, the league is very tight, Okere said.

You fall down the table when you lose, and when you win, you at least attempt to keep afloat. In our case, it has to do with the balance that we get in the team and we are competitive. The major challenge that Tusker has faced thus far is consistency.

The Brewers have not been able to win back-to-back, an aspect that has not helped them to move further up the table. Their 2-1 win over KCB however, had a huge boost to their morale given that they were losing two matches in a row.

Okay is of the opinion that success would be a milestone in their campaign, especially because of the way the success came about. The coach also highly commended his team members because they applied the game plan successfully after they had done thorough tactical planning.

It is a very good feeling since we had already lost two matches consecutively before playing KCB, he said.
